A large robot in an individual's home, particularly if the person is vulnerable, will help improve living conditions but will also be a source of danger in the event of malfunction. It is therefore necessary for the domestic robot manufacturer to be able to guarantee the dependability of the device supplied. It has thus been decided to apply, to Romeo's design, methods already used in fields in which dependability is already well integrated: the aeronautics and automotive sections in particular.
With specialists in this field, CEA LIST and All4Tec, Aldebaran will implement a systematic methodology for modelling the robotic system, identifying the risk events in the context of its use and thus detecting the possible sources of these events. System enhancements can thus be envisaged to make it safer.
